Looking for a house in Switzerland can be quite challenging and costly. Most people reside in apartments, particularly in city centers, which typically come unfurnished and may require additional setup, including wiring for your lights. Renters often ask for a substantial deposit of two to three months and may request proof of employment, resident permit, salary, and a debt certificate to ensure you can manage the rent.
To simplify your search for a new home or shared flat, consider using apps like FlatFox or HomeGate.

Currency
Switzerland is known for its high cost of living, but the salaries typically align with these expenses, making an attractive place to call home. The currency used is Swiss Francs, and both cash and card payments are widely accepted. However, many pop-up markets and festivals are moving towards cashless options, utilizing alternatives like TWINT or card payments. While discounts are rare, those under 25 can benefit from reduced rates on transportation and health insurance. Be sure to ask for youth deals!
ZKB bank is a great bank option for those under the age of 30, as it offers STU Cards that provide various discounts across shops, restaurants and Swiss experiences and all you have to do is simply purchase using your Stu Card!

Health Insurance
Navigating health insurance as a Swiss resident is essential, as it is mandatory. With numerous health insurance providers available, it's important to determine the specific package that suits your needs and compare the options before committing to one, as you can only change insurance at specific points in the year. Insurance examples:
Sanitas, Axa, Assura, Swica and more.
Keep in mind that once you apply for your working permit you will need health insurance, if it is not set up you will be back dated and charged from the date of your permit.

It is also worth noting that some Health Insurance Franchises have benefits to include payment towards fitness centers or wellness.

Weather
Switzerland boasts distinct seasons, each offering unique experiences. Summers are warm and inviting, perfect for leisurely days spent floating down rivers or swimming in pristine lakes. Winter transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland, ideal for skiing and snow adventures. With autumn and spring come cooler temperatures and vibrant colors, making it a delightful time for hiking and exploring charming pop-up markets and festivals.

A beloved Swiss tradition that takes place in April of each year is the burning of the Böögg snowman in Zurich. The faster it burns, the higher chance of a hot summer. This vibrant celebration is not to be missed, filled with rich history and festive atmosphere.
