Europe is a fascinating continent rich in history, culture, and diversity. It is made up of  51 independent states. Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey are transcontinental countries, partially located in both Europe and Asia. Armenia and Cyprus politically are considered European countries, though geographically they are located in the West Asia territory.
In Europe you will find well-known nations like France, Germany, Italy, and Ireland. Despite its relatively small geographic size, Europe is incredibly linguistically diverse, with over 200 languages. Some of the most widely used include English, French, German, Spanish, and Russian. Europe is home to the smallest country in the world, Vatican City, and boasts the longest land border between Russia and Kazakhstan. The continent is also the birthplace of many global institutions, such as democracy in ancient Greece and the Renaissance in Italy. From the northern lights in Iceland to the sun-kissed beaches of Greece, Europe offers an incredible variety of experiences all within relatively short travel distances.
